Slimming World - Roasted Veg Pasta

Well hello lovelies,

Today I have my second Slimming World review for you all. Roasted Veg Pasta.

I must say I don't like this packaging as much as the sweet potato curry. I think this packaging looks a bit cheap and could be doing with a bit more colour.  However I do think the food on the packaging is a good representation of the actual product.

This is the raw presentation. Because of the way it is produced, there will be some pasta round the sides that look dry with most of the veg and sauce in the middle. This will be fine once it's cooked and mixed. As you can see there are red and yellow roasted peppers, along with roasted courgette and baby plum tomatoes. Then there is spiral pasta with a tomato sauce.

As you can see it looks lovely. Cooking instructions are microwave 800watt 11mins and fan oven 180c for 40mins. I have tried both cooking methods and think that the oven is best for this product. However there is nothing wrong with the microwave option. Plus it's quick and easy which is the whole point in this range.

Overall a very nice product. Pasta is tender, veg is soft with a slight crunch. The past sauce is tomato flavoured which is slightly acidic with banknotes of herbs.

I couldn't eat this on its own. I think I would pair this with some of the Syn free meatballs or Syn free sausages.

I hope you all enjoyed this review and let me know what you think when you try it.

Slimming World - Sweet Potato Curry Review

Well hello lovelies!!

I am back today with a review on Slimming Worlds Sweet Potato Curry!
I love the packaging!! It just looks like a high quality food. It also looks authentic.
The picture of the curry is a good representation of the cooked product.

This can be cooked in the microwave for 11mins for easy or 40-45 at 180c in the oven.

I really like this dish personally. I would eat this possibly with a bit of chicken and rice mixed in. An if I was being really healthy. I could eat this with just rice.

There's is 30% chargrilled sweet potato and 70% not chargrilled. Don't quote me! I might have worked that out wrong. Either way there is some chargrilled and some not. There is also red peppers which again some are chargrilled and some not, along with spinach and curry spices.

Normally curry would be thickened with cream. But this has been thickened with fat free yogurt.

Overall flavour is a mild curry which has a building heat. But it doesn't get too hot which I like. The potatoes are soft with a lovely sweet curry flavour. The red peppers have a slight crunch to them and the spinach is soft. The sauce has a kind of pulpy texture to it.

Overall I think this is a really nice product. There are lots of Syn free foods you can eat with this. If you are on extra easy, any lean meat is free :)

I specially like this as its frozen. Which means all the vitamin's are kept in the food for longer.

Let me know if anyone has tried this and what you think.

Breville Smoothie Maker Review

Well hello lovelies,

I have been making smoothies since the begging of January with this smoothie maker, so I thought I'd do a review on it today :)

Check out recipe links for a smooth here
I use the Blend Active Breville smoothie maker.

This is normally £20 in asda but I got mine in the January sale and got it for £10.

As you can see you get the blending machine, a black removable blade and 2 bottles (one is in the wash).

All you do to make a smoothie is, put all you ingredients into the bottle. Screw in the black blade. Fit that into the machine and press that green button. Once it's blended as much as you like. Remove the blade and screw on you top.

I do like this machine. Each morning I will swap between a breakfast smoothie and over night oats.

The only down fall with this machine, is that it won't blend frozen fruit. But that's not a problem for me as I just take the fruit out from the freezer the night before and BOOM!! You have an awesome smoothie!

It's a great machine for the price it is. And if you love smoothies or juicies as I do it perfect.

What smoothie machines do you reccomend??

Entertaining Your Child At The Doctors

Well hello lovelies!!!

I have been introduced to the company Bankers Healthcare Group, and I'd like to do a post on what would make my experience of going to the doctors with a toddler more enjoyable.

Before I get into anything else in this post. I want to make clear that I am not being sponsored for this post in anyway shape or form.  I've been inspired to do this to help other mothers and that is the only reason I am taking part. I think it can be hard at times to take children to any type of health care facility and I would like to help with that.

This company are based in New York and have offices in Florida. They give physician loans to medical practitioners for expanding the company and consolidating debt, as well as a few other options. Check out their website here!

They also have a blog with a wealth of health information in it that I found quite interesting. You can check that out here!

Lets get started!!

When Holly was a baby, I had no problem going out with her. Whether that be to the shops or to the doctors as she would just sleep in her buggy. Now that she is a toddler, well things have changed in that she doesn't want to be strapped into a buggy now. She wants to be out exploring things, touching things and talking to people.

I found that all of a sudden going to the doctors or dentist was very difficult and I would rather have two of us there than take her with me on my own and that's wrong. You should be made to feel comfortable where every you take your child.

At our local health centre it can be busy and sometimes you can't even get a seat. So you are left to stand and chase your child around ill people, who are more than with in their right to be getting annoyed with a child screaming and running around their legs!

There is no play area for her to go into to keep her entertained while she waits. I do usually have my phone with me which I can put cartoons on for her. However if you can't get a seat, I don't want her to run off with my phone.

Here are a few things in my opinion which would help a lot while in the waiting room.

Having a cornered off play area
This way even if there was a long waiting time (like there always is) and there was no seats left. You could go in here with your child and keep them entertained and out from under peoples legs!

Possibly having a area pacifically for parents and children
Parents without kids don't understand what its like to try and keep a bored toddler from running a riot. When waiting a long period of time and Holly gets bored, I dread the tuts and stares when she starts to scream. This area would be just for parents and kids where us parents could all cry together while our kids run free!

Possibly having doctor who take children as a priority
This would be the best solution I think if you have to go to the health centre to see a doctor. There should be a list of two or three doctors that take parents and kids as a priority. That way you are in and out. No screaming children and everyone is happy.

Free doctor call outs to the house for children under 10 years of age
This in my opinion would be the perfect solution! At the moment, if you get a doctor call out to your house, you get charged. I think anyone with a child under 10 years old should get a free doctors call out. That way if you have an ill grumpy child, they have their own toys to keep them entertained, you don't have to struggle with a screaming child to get them dressed or into a jacket and no issues if the start a screaming fit.

However that is all in an ideal world, and my world is not ideal!

At the moment if I am going to see a doctor with an ill and grumpy holly, They don't have a toy area and the waiting area is particularly small. So not only do I need to entertain her while I wait in a queue of people to see a doctor (lets face it we are never taken on time), She is most likely going to leave with some sort of other bug due to a lot of ill people in a confined space.

Here are some suggestions on how to keep them entertained

Take an iPad or have cartoons on your phone
This is my number one option. Therese nothing better than a good Disney movie to keep her occupied

Take a book
I'm lucky as Holly also like to be read to. So I let her pick a book and we sit and read till its either time to go in or she gets bored.

Take your kids favourite toy
If all else fails I have her favourite toy in her bag.

My very last option is to take her to a quieter area of the health centre and let her run about a little more there.

What do you do to entertain your child at the Health centre?
Let me know any suggestions you have that I could try out on Holly next time we are at the doctors.

Healthy Breakfast Part 3 - Smoothies

Well hello lovelies,

Today I am bringing to you my 3rd option and most popular breakfast option!!

Banana and strawberry smoothie!!

Now I am actually more adventures with this than the others lol. When ever we get payed, I will go out and get most of the frozen fruits in asda. Frozen berries, raspberries and blackberries. I don't like cherries and I have always wondered why I can't get just frozen strawberries?!

Anyway sorry side tracked again.

So once I get all of these, I will split them all up into freezer bags. That way I just take them out the night before and they are defrosted for the morning.

Most smoothie makers will blend frozen fruit. However the one I have doesn't.

So you will need the following.
I like to add in oats to my breakfast smoothies, fruit of choice (just so happens it strawberries and bananas), milk and I also use Greek yogurt.

Add in 5 table spoons of oats, pour in twice the amount of milk, fruit and your 3 table spoons of yogurt.
Give it a shake and blend till smooth
If I'm having a lunch smoothie I don't add the oats and replace the milk with orange juice.

As you can see my smoothie maker is the blend active by Breville.

Let me know if you like smoothies and tweet me your fav recipes @workingmumy

The Domestic Geek and MindOverMunch on YouTube have some awesome recipes!! Go check them out.

My Planner

Well hello lovelies!!!

Today I'm going to show you all my planner. I'm not totally happy with this one. I don't think it's big enough. I just haven't found one yet at a decent price that I like. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the  Erin Condren one but I'm not paying that amount for a planner!!
It's is a witches date book, I'm really quite interested in Wicca. Mainly because it's so different to other religions and they are quite close to nature, which you all know I love!!

Before I get sticker happy, it looks like this.
I like how this planner gives you moon phases, colours of the day, which star sign we are in and then it give a whole lot of info for that month, i.e this months is about Magha Purnima in India. People have a bath in what they believe is blessed water, ie rivers and they believe it washes away negativity. You never know what pub quiz you will be in and that might be the wining answer!!

Anyway sorry. I side tracked!!

This is what it looks like on s busy week!
Shopping lists, what the weather was like, what bills are due out that day, anything I want to get done that day and what blog views I have had.

I have ordered washi tape from a lovely store called stickylilsuckers. An I need to say that the customer service from this shop is amazing and I would highly recommend to get your washi tape from here!! I will do an update in a couple of months to show you all how I've done that.

I only started to use a planner last year, to keep track of bills coming out and the lack of money going in lol. But I actually really enjoyed using it!! An then recently found this whole new community that decorate their planners like scrap books!! And we all know how much I like to DIY things!!!

So I hope yous enjoyed this post. Let me know what you all do with your planners. Tweet me @workingmumy

Healthy Breakfast Part 2 - Over Night Oats

Well hello lovelies,

I thought I'd bring to you another healthy breakfast to start your weeks off!!

Today it's over night oats!! I love this breakfast as you can do anything with it. Look up YouTube two of my faves are Mind Over Munch and Domestic Geek  they bother have great recipes for this topic.

I love fruit in mine though (boring in know lol)

You will need some sort of a container. Mines is a mason jar, oats, in my case fruits, milk and it's not in the picture but I used Greek yogurt too.

Directions :
I used 3 tablespoon of oats. Poured in the milk till you could see it reach the top of the oats. Added 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt, sliced up my fruit and popped that all in on top. I usually use 1 banana and 4 strawberries.

Stick it in the fridge over night. And BOOM

In the morning before work all you do is grab this baby, stick it in your bag and off you go!! It's great as you can eat it on the go cold or you can wait till you get to work and heat it up!!

Let me know if you try it :)
Speak soon lovelies!!
