Halloween Pumpkins and Recipe!!!

Well hello lovelies,

As tonight's Halloween I thought I'd do a spooky post :) well not quite lol but let me get started. 

One thing I love about Halloween is the pumpkin carving!!!! Here are some I made earlier :)  
Holly also had a little Halloween party at her childminders today. I didn't get her a proper costume as she wouldn't wear any type of head piece. Sooooooo she went in her onesie!!
An she filled up on sweets and cakes and is now still at 21:27 jumping in her bed!! 

Here is also my spooky Halloween recipe this year for roasted salted pumpkin seeds. 

Pumpkin seeds

Cups for measuring
Table spoon
Roasting tray

After cleaning your pumpkins you will want to separate your seeds and insides as much as possible. Rinse your seeds in a sieve until clean. 

For evey cup of seeds you put into your pot. You will want to put 2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of salt. For example I had 2 cups of seeds, 4 cups of water and 2 tabelspoons of salt. 
Mix all together and bring to the boil. Once boiled summer for 10mins. 
Meanwhile, prep your baking tray with 1 tablespoon of oil and heat your oven to 200c fan or 400f. 

Once the seeds are ready drain and put them into your tray with oil. I gave them a mix about just to coat them. 
Then pop them into the oven :) mine roasted for 10mins to 20mins. After 10mins I had to take the ones on the edges out as they were nice and golden brown. Then I replaced them in the oven for another 10mins.

Home Made Night Light

Well hello lovelies  

I thought tonight I would show yous all how I made Hollys night light. 

Holly has a normal night light too which is a big ladybug. But I seen this on Pinterest and had to have a go at it. 

Here is what you will need
1 jar
Tin foil
A ikea touch light

This is very easy. All you need to do is cut your tin foil to fit the inside of your jar. Which you can see in the above picture I have done. 

Next use a stick or anything with a pointed end to poke holes in to your tin foil. I have seen people do pictures and constellations. I just done random holes in mine. 

Fit this to the inside of your jar. The light I'm using just fits inside the jar lid and no more. If you can find one which you can fit into the lid and seal it, that's great. However the one I'm using will only let the lid sit on the top the jar. But that's fine as well. 

This is the result!! I think you can tell its home made but I definetly like it. I think maybe sealing the light from shining out the bottom of the jar would also make it look a lot better. But I'm quite happy with this.

Hollys First Hair Cut

IWell hello lovelies!!

Everyone has been at me for ages to get Hollys hair cut. Holly is blonde, which means her hair will probably be very fine. 
My hair is blonde as well and my hair is fine and thin. She is only 19 months!! I just want her to stay my baby!! 

Everyone has said my hair is thin because my mum didn't get it trimmed when I was young. This theory might be a myth. But everyone has said her hair would be thin too if I didn't get it trimmed regularly. What do you guys think??

I am gonna be honest. I didn't get that much off it. Just the scraggly ends evened up at the back so it's all one length. Then her hair at the front got feathered as I didn't want a fringe. I just don't think she would have suited it. 

What do you guys think?? What age were you or your little ones first hair cut at??

Pumpkin Pie Recipe

Well hello lovelies!!

At the weekend I took a break from studying and since I was feeling all autumny, I made pumpkin pies!!!!


750g of pumpkin or squash
350g of shortcrust pastry
Plain flour (for dusting)
140g of caster sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 beaten eggs
25g melted butter
175ml milk
1 tablespoon of icing sugar

Shortcrust pastry

I have to admit I did cheat a bit with this!! I used an Asda chosen by you ready mix. All I added in was water. 
Empty the contents into a bow and add in 5 tablespoons of water and mix with a fork until your dough comes together. 
Lightly flour your surface and knead  together until you have a smooth dough ball. 
Roll out dough until it is about 0.5mm thick. 
Now I left my tart tins at my mums so used my cupcake tin. But first I used Harrys treat bowl which is about 4.5inches across. I cut round it then place them into the cup cake tin. 
Once in the cupcake tin. I trimmed the edges. 
Here is the hard bit, blind baking. I used  rice to do mine. This is so that your base isn't soggy when using a wet filling. I lined inside of my pastry cups with grease proof paper and filled with rice. 
These were cooked for 15mins at 180c fan. I then removed the rice and lining and cooked for a further 10mins. I then removed them from the oven and turned it up to 200c for the next part. 


You can either use pumpkin or squash for this part. I used squash. 
I peeled and cut this guy up into slices then boiled in water until it was soft enough to mash. About 20mins. 

I mashed up the squash added caster sugar, salt, nutmeg, milk, 2 beaten eggs, melted butter and half the cinnamon and gave it all a good mix in. 

I then emptied my shells and added the filling. 

This was placed back into the oven at 200c for 10mins, then the temperature was reduced to 180c and I cooked them for another 15mins. Just until the filling is set. 

Here is the finished product

You can then dust these with some cinnamon and icing sugar. But do this right before serving or it will absorbe into the tarts over night. 


You don't need to use a fresh pumpkin, you could use tinned pumpkin purée. This would save you a lot of time. 

Once the pastry is in the tins. Make sure and trim the edges. Makes them look neat and tidy.
